As part of the series of awareness programmes, Municipal Corporation of Greater Visakhapatnam in association with Andhra Pradesh National Green Corps has organized a workshop on the theme ‘Say No To Plastics’ on 8 May 2006.
Dr.Dhavala Bhaskara Rao, Assistant Medical Officer of Health, Municipal Corporation, in his inaugural speech stressed the need for strict implementation of carry bags ban by the traders in the city.
Sri Gali Udaya Kumar, Project Officer, Andhra Pradesh National Green Corps has made a multi media presentation on life cycle analysis of plastics, their impact on environment and the alternative life styles to be followed.
Traders from different parts of Visakhapatnam, particularly from hotels, bakeries, fast food centers and food stalls have attended the workshop and shared their experiences regarding consumer response in implementation of plastic carry bags ban. Sri Janardhan, Food Inspector has coordinated the programme.
