Our Water - Our People: What we can do

Find out what are the crops being cultivated in our neigbourhood and what is the amount of water used to cultivate crop per acre and how many kilowatt hours of electricity is being used. What is amount of power consumed per 10 minutes to pump the water and then how many hours the pump is run, how much of water is lifted per day and how much water actually reaches the fields. Contact the Agricultural Officer and ask his suggestions regarding the amount of water required for each of the crops grown in your area. This has to be compared with the actual water spent by farmers and by trying to bring about changes in the priorities of farmers.
