How to Increase Mileage of Our Vehicle
Choose a nearby place where the traffic is heavy. Find out the number of two wheelers, three wheelers, four wheelers, two-stroke and four stroke vehicles that come and go at a particular time and tabulate this data in a graph.
Seek information from the traffic constable stationed there about the peak and slack hours.
From the regional transport officer find out the technical aspects of the vehicles, what are the rules to be followed while driving, what are the precautions to be taken while driving etc?
Find out from the nearby auto shed what is the mileage given by different vehicles? What are the measures to be taken to increase the mileage?
Educate the people to ask the vehicle distributors about the air quality control standards used during the manufacturing of the vehicles and ask them to buy only those vehicles that conform to the standards. Highlighting problems of vehicular pollution, conduct traffic survey camps and competitions.
Encourage elders to get their vehicles checked for pollutant emissions and explain the problems caused by pollution.
The pollution checks, which are only conducted in the petrol pumps should also be conducted during various voluntary programmes, insist on it.
Measures should be taken to curb the use of duplicate and already used lubricants.
Alternatives for diesel and petrol should be found. The use of LPG and CNG should be encouraged.
We should campaign for travel in public transport instead of using private transportation, as it would reduce pollution and accidents. It should be suggested to use railways as a mode of transport instead of buses.
