Hospital Waste Pollution

December is the month for campaign against hospital waste pollution. It may seem strange, but the fact is that the very hospitals that cure us of our diseases also are a cause for the birth of diseases through their wastes. Every day hospitals generate tonnes of wastes. These wastes are not disposed off in a proper manner and this improper disposal is the cause for the spread of numerous diseases. Waste generated by hospitals everyday includes syringes, blood stained wabs, organs removed during operations, dead foetuses, different body fluids etc. Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam have some ultra modern hospitals and these hospitals are responsible for generating huge amounts of hospital wastes, which are highly pathogenic. It is necessary to keep the surroundings clean to immunise ourselves from the attack of dangerous diseases.
